Values Led Growth and Regeneration

Bristol wants to work with partners to create and provide future homes, jobs and quality places that improve connectivity, protect green spaces, and ensure areas where communities are experiencing long term deprivation can share and access these opportunities. This must all be achieved while tackling the climate and ecological emergencies at every step. These aims and the use of land for office and industrial development will help us to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and further detail can be found in the Local Plan statement: Progressing Bristol’s Development.

The need to address the economic impact of COVID-19 did not reduce the urgency of the climate and ecological emergency declared in the city. We recognised that there were lessons to be learnt and that in response the city’s development had to adapt to the changing role of what people needed from Bristol. Every investable opportunity and development you find here aligns back to the One City Economic Recovery and Renewal Strategy.

Future development must help us reduce poverty and inequality, increase the city’s resilience and environmental sustainability, and enhance the economic and social wellbeing of every community.

A coalition of employers in Bristol has been recognised by the Living Wage Foundation for their work to make Bristol a Living Wage City – the largest city in the UK to achieve this new status. By paying the real Living Wage employers are voluntarily making a change to ensure their employees can earn a wage which is enough to live on.

Temple Quarter and St Philip’s Marsh

At Temple Quarter and St Philip’s Marsh, one of the UK’s largest regeneration projects, our vision is to transform over 130 hectares of brownfield land at the heart of the city over the next 25 years into a thriving, well-connected mixed-use community. The regeneration will create up to 10,000 new homes, 22,000 new jobs and bring £1.6 billion each year to the city economy.
